FREE ACTIVITIES

  Welcome,

My name is Everett and I live in the great "city of the angels", Los Angeles.

I have lived and visited many other places but for my money Los Angeles is my favorite place to live. My blog has a set goal to help me prove what I have been arguing for many years with many people. Everyone tells me Los Angeles is very expensive and I agree that it can be extremely expensive but…

Los Angeles Is A Great City For FREE Things To Do!

To hammer my point home I am going to go out and journalize 30 different fun and cool things to do in Los Angeles WITHOUT repeating the same activity twice.

Finding 30 different cool things to do in most cities is a challenge in itself but to do it for FREE is quite an accomplishment.

When I am finished my point will be indisputable because of the limits I am setting for the challenge.

  1. Each activity must be 100% FREE- All the activities chosen will cost absolutely nothing. There will be no entrance fees or anything you must buy to have fun. I won't even pay for parking.
  2. Nothing will require special treatment- You won't need to know someone to get in on the fun. There are lots of free great parties but only for those on the list.
  3. No two activities will be alike- This will help make my point because if I go to one beach or a free concert, the readers know there are several more I could have chosen. This way there should be something for everyone. Sometimes a couple activities may be sponsored by the department of parks and recreation but they will be completely different experiences.
  4. No tourist traps- I will avoid the Chinese Theater, The Getty Center and the more well-known things to do. The focus will be on things locals like to do. By the time I am done even people who have lived here many years will learn some cool things about their great city even they did not know.
  5. Within 45 minutes of downtown- Defining L.A. is tricky. If I went strictly by incorporated city of Los Angeles we would be left with a very complicated small jigsaw puzzle piece of the map. If I went by LA County we are now talking the size of a small state. Maybe it won't be enough but we will start with 45 minutes from downtown the way I drive.

So I am going to stay about 45 miles from downtown L.A. This does allow me to go into Pasadena, Glendale, Santa Monica and other places not technically LA but many of the people who live there would tell others they live in LA if they were on vacation.

All of the above limits will help prove my point because, if I can find 30 cool things to do within 45 miles and limit myself to just one of our many great beaches or parks, imagine how many things there are to do without such limits.

You should know, God has graced me with two beautiful kids. My daughter Emma is 9 and my son Preston is 5 so you can expect some kid friendly activities.

Had I started this blog 15 years ago it would have included a lot more parties, clubs and debauchery. However my cute, kind and wonderful wife helped me see the error of my wicked and woeful ways long ago, so this blog will also be very G rated like my life is.

I hope you enjoy it and it inspires you to explore our great city.

Everett,
El Angelito de Los Angeles
