Get Your Geek On

LA rules geekdom.

After all, this is where most famous sci-fi movies and TV shows come from so we have a lot of hardcore fans.

Sci-fi history is everywhere you go. Star Trek used Vasquez Rocks as an alien planet. Malibu creek State park was where they shot Planet of The Apes, The Bradbury building was used to shoot Blade Runner and the list goes on and on.

Another reason we rule geekdom is we are home to the Los Angeles Science Fiction and Fantasy Society which is…

The Oldest Science Fiction/Fantasy Club On Earth!!

Since 1934 LASFS has not failed to host a meeting. They are so proud of this that even during WWII they made sure someone opened the door every Thursday night and to this day, when they host science fiction/fantasy conventions, they always leave someone behind to open the door for the regular meeting. Now that is devotion.

Anyway LASFS hosts two free events any true sci-fi fantasy fan would love.

Every Thursday night at 6:30 PM they host The Never Ending Panel where fans discuss various sci-fi/fantasy based topics.

These guys will speak about anything from “has someone already had sex in space” to “who would win in a fight, Han Solo or Buck Rogers?”

The panelists range from regular fans to world famous authors and actors. The audience is also encouraged to join in the discussion as well.

Below is a promo about the show which gives you a good idea of the fun they are having.

LASFS also hosts Cinema Anime on the second Sunday of every month. Everyone is welcome to come on down and watch free anime from 1-8PM.

If you like the crowd at either the Never Ending Panel or Cinema Anime, you may want to consider attending a few LASF meetings. The first few are free and if you like it membership is only $5 application fee and meetings are only $3.

They host several events for members and the atmosphere is jovial and relaxed.

This is the perfect place to get your geek on.
