The Old Mill |
|
On a recent outing to explore more free things to do in Los Angeles we visited the Old Mill in Pasadena. This charming old structure was a working mill which processed grain grown at the San Fernando Mission. Because it was designed to be a mill back in 1816 it is the oldest commercial building in California. Once again, I’ll let the photos tell the tale but pay particular attention to the mill stones in the front courtyard because they were discovered by non other than General George Patton when he was a wee lad growing up in the area. The top floor is dedicated to displaying art work and the courtyard is often used for civic functions including concerts by the California Philharmonic. So we could not take pictures of the upper floor. The Old Mill is opene every day except Monday from 1-4PM. For more information visit their website at http://www.old-mill.org
